what is the going rate to up grade from an old fuse panel, to a circuit breaker panel. Is there a flat rate or per/circuit price. And how long would it take the average person to do this task.

On average I charge $750 to replace a panel. That includes permit and all breakers.

How long? That depends on what is involved. Sometimes you have to do a disconnect reconnect with the power company.

On average I would say 4 hours is reasonable.

The cost will vary depending on location. I am in the hills of NW Arkansas.

100 or 200 amp?
Is the panel in a basement or flush mounted in a wall?
Is the meter in close proximity or is a disconnect needed?
Does the meter base and service conducters need to be upgraded?
Is it underground or overhead?
Is the existing box grounded correctly?
What kind of shape are the circuits entering the existing fuse Box?
How many circuits need to be connected back up?
Some service upgrads we do run as much as $2000

yes your correct this could go into a few different variables. But you raised a question,What kind of shape are the circuits entering the existing fuse Box? Would you pull in new ciruits? I guess depending on how bad they were this could almost turn into a complete re-wire.

Based on 'cost' amounts that various EC's put on permits, service change goes from $500 to $2500 (100-200amp resi, 1 phase)

Based on my personal exp, a 200 amp job should top out at around $1750 to $2000, soup to nuts

I have not seen a "unit" price that works, there are many variables as the above posts stated.
