What is the easiest way to test for adequate grounding integrity at a receptacle outlet?
I suppose just plugging in a simple circuit checker would be okay. Does anyone else do it different?

I use a plug-in tester or a VolCon.

Whenver I encounter questionable installations, removal of the device and inspection of the wiring is in order.

The Ideal Sure-Test.

About $200 and worth every penny.

Measures impedance of each current-carrying condictor and the equipment ground. Measures voltage drop under load. Does a few other cool things.

I do a lot of old work and couldn't get along without it.

I use the Sure test for inspections and testing. Great product. However if you want a "poor-mans" version use a 1500 watt blow dryer and volt meter. Measure the voltage between N-G with the blow dryer on the "high" setting. Should see around 3 volts or less. Bad reading would be around 0 or above 3.

derek, could you explain why? I don't quite follow how that works.
