Are there any electricians currently working in Utah? Mainly in the Salt Lake City Area.

I was wondering what the pay scale is for a journeyman electrician. Is the Union strong there?

Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of work here, but there are too many people trying to do it. I've been out of the feild for a few years now, so I'm not too up to speed on the pay, but I beleive it is around $20.00 p/hr, give or take. The union has a couple hundered journeymen on the book right now, I'm told.

I served my apprenticeship in SLC, IBEW 354.
I left 20 years ago to seek my fortune in the Connecticut. IBEW 354 20 years ago was fairly strong, although we never had more than 20% of the work. We did most of the big jobs. I worked on the downtown mall and the Salt Palace, and a couple of coal fired power plants down south. The last job I worked on in Utah was an oil-shale refinery in North SLC. They mothballed it as soon as we were done. I wonder if they ever brought it back????

The only bad part about local 354 is they have this very strange CEU instructor named Ryan....

Yes, word of that strange Ryan have even reached us way out here in CA, but we really shouldn't judge a man based on the company he keeps. [Linked Image]

At least the guys in 354 are getting a good education [Linked Image]!!
