Has anyone seen 8/2(with ground) UF? I can find 8/3 in UF but only 8/2 in NM.
Thanks, Brian

Brian

8/2 UF with ground is available at www.gesupply.com . The part number is 8-2 WG UF RL. I have never used any but it is in my catalog.

Brian, can I ask what you are feeding with the 8/2?

Thanks Merlin.
Iwire, it's for a 30A 120V RV hookup. The run is too long for #10.

Brian if you have a sharp inspector they will notice that grounding conductor is to small.

250.122(B) requires the grounding conductor size to be increased when the other conductors are increased for any reason.

In the case of a 30 amp circuit you need a full size grounding conductor, run 8 AWG hot & neutral and you need a 8 AWG ground.

You might want to use the 8/3 and ask the inspector if he has a problem with remarking the red to green or just stripping the red to bare.

Good luck, Bob

I've never priced 8/2 cable, but would not 8/3 be cheaper as its much more common? Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies. I never thought about the grounding conductor. Guess I'll ask the inspector first, if he balks it will be time for pipe and THHN/THHW.
I've always wondered about re-marking a red, white or black conductor as a grounding conductor and in fact I've done it on occasion however there were no inspections.
What are most AHJ's position on this?
