I would appreciate someone helping me wire this old Magnetek ballast. Cat. No. 1110-245-sc-tc. It is a 175 watt metal halide. The diagram shows this:
277v. Black wire
120v BL/Yel wire
white from ballast joining white coming from bulb
red to bulb

Now, my interpretation of this is, the black does not connect to anything, the Bl/Yel goes to the AC plug, the white to bulb and on to AC plug, the red to other side of bulb.

Does this sound correct?
If I could figure out how, I would attach a drawing of diagram. Thanks.

Put a wirenut on the black wire if you are gonna wire it to 120 volts. This is a multitap ballast and if it is hanging outside your house you will not be using the 277 tap.

Here is a link to a page from Magnatec (now Universal Ballast) that gives the specs for your ballast.

Look at Diagram 34

Universal Ballast

As has been said simply insulate the voltage lead you do not use.
