Hello all, The company I work for does all low voltage security work, mostly card access systems. When we do an install larger than two doors we install a 30"X36" nema 1 enclosure with all the controllers and terminal blocks prewired at our shop and mounted on a backplate. We also install a 1900 box on the backplate and have the building EC provide us with 110vac at the outlet. When they bring the cable into the enclosure they usually run mc and put the connector on the outside of the enclosure and run the thhn thru a bushing in the bottom of the 1900 box. My question is if there is any requirement to have the 110 vac physically seperated from our low voltage wiring, which if I read the code correctly there is a barrier required. If they put a bushing on the outside of the enclosure and ran the mc inside to the proper connector on the 1900 box would there be any violations? Also would they bew able to run the mc thru chase nipples between enclosures, the job I am doing now has three of them side by side. I know there would have to be seperate nipples for the ac and one for the low volt but is it allowed? Thanks in advance

Jim

IMHO if you build the box you provide the barrier/ 120v compartment.
