Why can't I pull up the photo with a guy, holding a drill motor, standing on a ladder, in the water? Has it been removed/relocated?

Yep, an aluminum ladder AND barefooted. Are those safety glasses he's wearing or maybe a blindfold? [Linked Image]

Someone has a death wish! Hope his life insurance is paid up!

Thanks Bill. Why couldn't I pull that up when looking at an old forum topic?

Also add the fact that he is wet from the waist down. This photo has been the topic of many a discussion at work.

I printed this one out for our weekly safety meeting tomorrow. It should generate some discussion.

Now this would be a fine oportunity to use that floating receptacle made from a detergent bottle that Joe T. has a picture of. [Linked Image]

OK, for education purposes, how would you have done this job to make it safe(r)?

1) Drain the pool first, then use a wooden ladder.

2) Use scaffolding?

3) Use a cordless drill.

I'd go with option #1 and add #3. Best comromise - Cheaper than a scaffolding but no danger of falling into the water. [Linked Image]

God forbid that guy would slip off that ladder and land in the pool with his electric drill.

P.S.: What's with all the bottles of booze? Where was this picture shot? Looks like at some resort or hotel...

Shoes are off obviously so he doesn't get them wet. Goggles are so he can look for his drill underwater when he falls in. My concern is the debris from drilling will fall in the pool.

Sven, the original posting of this picture had the response, that the booze was for the wake they were going to hold for this guy.

Wow,
How STUPID, can you get?.
Imagine, if you or the drill slipped and you fell into the pool, holding the drill.
And I bet that, that drill is not fed via a GFCI either.
Some people are probably better off dead. [Linked Image]

The original posting stated this was taken at a hotel in Mexico.

Reminds me of a close friend I had back in the late 60's. Working on a dock in the water. The guy he was working with gave him an electric drill. Started it and the was the end.

I wonder if somebody chose to take the time to get a nice picture of a potential life threatening hazard here, instead of trying to prevent it.
