What do letters NEMA mean, as in NEMA configuration for plugs and receptacles?

Frank,

You'll find NEMA standards for various kinds of equipment. Motor starters are given in Size 0, 1, 2, ect. Disconnects, and the buss ratings in panelboards are all given in NEMA standard sizes.
