Hi All,
I have a Hunter Original paddle fan in my family room. So I decided to install a Lumia speed control from Lutron. Nice designner colors made the Mrs all happy, except it works great on high, and barely move on medium and goes even slower on low. Any thoughts?

Obsaleet,

Is there a variable speed control on the fan? If so leave it on the fastest speed and try that.

Ob:
Did your fan come with a remote? Some Hunter fans contain a remote receiver within the light kit canopy. This is a factory remote, not an 'add-on'

No this is a Hunter Original, its been in for about 16yrs. Up pretty high so pulling the chain was not easy. No light, just a fan. The speeds work with the pull chain. I think it may be the control they are special order so I want to be sure.

"Speed Control"

What a tease.

I thought this was about motivating apprentices.

I can see that you ARE fan obsessed.

Is there an adjusting control on the fan speed controller? When you set the paddle fan on High, everything would work fine. But on low the fan went too slow. On some controllers that I use to install had a little small screw in the face of the speed control. You would adjust it so that the fan would turn slowly but not come to a complete stop on slow speed.

I have heard that the reason those cheap 3 speed fans always start in High was to be sure they got spinning OK before you went to Low.
We have a high end Hunter that will start OK in Low. It has the wireless remote so there are no adjustments.

Sorry but this comment may be way off base, if so please excuse my ignorance:

Not being familiar with Hunter fans and Lumia speed controls, could the problem be that the fan is a 3 speed fan and changes speed by adding poles thus is not compatible with the speed control and its methodology?
