I've heard of Specification Grade, Hospital Grade, Commercial Grade, Residential Grade, etc. , but this is a new one on me:

And take a look the price--over $150 each! And to think that these "wonder devices" are going to be hooked up to plain old garden-variety copper wires, and stuffed into common metal and plastic outlet boxes! The horror of it all! [Linked Image]

Now if somebody would come out with pure silver triple-shielded romex and breaker panels with gold plated busbars, we could start to cash in on the "audiophool" crowd. They apparently have more money than common sense....

It looks like a plain old Leviton spec grade recept that they gold plated.

Like wirenut said, they need to invent oxygen-free copper Romex next. [Linked Image]

I have an obsessed audiophile homeowner. He had me install a dedicated recep for his system and insisted that I use a hospital grade outlet. I'm sure if he knew about this, he have me upgrade it. He already wants me to put in a higher grade circuit panel and copper SER. He decided to wait when I pointed out the cost and the fact that his electrical system is only as good as the weakest link. If we replace the inside wiring, but the POCO still has old wire, how much good is it?

I know that most of you carry tunes with you on the job site, lets just all make up $178.00 extension cords so you can get the best music out of that $50.00 CD player!!!

I think I would wonder about putting $0.33 a foot 14 AWG cable on $170.00 worth of cord caps!!! I would think at $84.80 per end you could get these people to spend at least a $1.00 per foot for the cable!

Device end $84.80 http://www.partsexpress.com//pe/sho...p;DS_ID=3&Product_ID=15546&DID=7

Plug end $84.80 http://www.partsexpress.com//pe/sho...p;DS_ID=3&Product_ID=15548&DID=7

Cord $8.30 http://www.partsexpress.com//pe/sho...p;DS_ID=3&Product_ID=14795&DID=7

A fool and his money.....

Let's not forget the in-car mob either who insist on $5/ft. audio cables and gold-plated battery terminals.

TG — That transformer looks like one of those groovy new high-end types with infinite-hysteresis, nitrogen-free aluminum windings.
