Sparky,

Just have to know. Is that a tribute to John Lennon?

Sorry to say that the "politically correct" are trying to put an end to the spirit of goodwill at Christmas over here too.....

1. A school banned parents from photgraphing their kids' nativity play, in case the photos of the kids ended up in the "wrong hands."

2. The HQ of the Red Cross Society gave an order to its stores that they mustn't display any traditional Christmas decorations, in case they offend non-Christians.

3. A department store informed everyone that kids visiting Santa in his grotto would not be allowed to sit on his knee, lest there be any accusations.

Some of these people want to see wrong-doing everywhere and prevent anyone from expressing any opinion which somebody, somewhere might not like.

So even though I'm outside the U.S., I shall invoke the First Amendment with what I consider to be everybody's universal right to freedom of speech by saying:

Merry Christmas everybody, wherever you may be. Peace and goodwill to all, and best wishes for a happy and contented New Year with those you love.

Central Park, to be exact. I believe the field is Strawberry Field.

The park is smack in the middle of Manhattan Island. It's bounded Harlem by to the north; Carnegie, Upper East Side and Lenox Hill to the east; Manhattan Valley, Upper West Side and Lincoln Square to the west and Midtown on the south.

Not that I'm a history buff, or a big Lennon fan....
The location where he was shot, which is also the location of one of his residences was "on the border" of Central Park.. the west side I believe.
A luxury condo/apt/co-op called the Dakota.
His wife Yoko Ono may still live there.

Sparky,

I was 95% sure but sometimes you have to ask the obvious.

Imagine. What a song. I think it may be the best of all time. So simple, not overdone and such a powerful message.

I once had a high school project that I had to make a poster for. It was the following words from Fall of the Peacemakers by Molly Hatchet written in beautiful penmenship. Then there was a picture John Lennon down in the corner. Simple yet with meaning.

A king without a sword, a land without a king
Truth without a voice, one song left to sing
One song to sing

A wise man told me there's something you should know
The way you judge a man is you look into his soul
And you'll soon see everything

A voice from the past cried give peace a chance
He paid our price, now he's free at last
And imagine, we called him a dreamer

How many times must good men die
How many tears will the children cry
'Til we suffer no more sadness
Stop the madness, oh, stop the madness

If ashes are ashes and dust is dust
And our journey is end, then return we must
To the sands of the shore

White doves in flight, peace to all
But tell me why do the peacemakers fall
Must we bury any more!

A hush stilled the crowd as the horse rode by
A black-laced veil hid the tears from our eyes
And we all wept in silence

How many times must good men die
How many times will their children cry
'Til we suffer no more sadness
Oh, stop the madness, oh, stop all the madness

Still gives me shivers. Such powerful words. The teacher gave me a B on the projects. I guess he did not get the connection.

Peace and happiness to all.

Good Morning, and a Merry Christmas to all!
Hope you all have a safe, insane Holiday!
As for "politically correct"?
>Jingle bells, shotgun shells,
>Santa's in his sleigh,
>If I catch someone in my house,
>I'll blow his @#*% away.
God Bless you all...the continuously offensive Scott [Linked Image]
PS. Sparky, my friend's daughter had her picture in "Rolling Stone" holding a candle in front of that John Lennon tribute.
