I am now officiallly in the Christmas mood! I stuck in my custom CD and BLASTED it in the car last night. Tell me what you think and if I am missing any songs on my CD.

1. The Christmas song. Nat King Cole

My favorite Christmas song and the all time classic version.

2. White Christmas. Bing Crosby

Arguably the all time classic Christmas song. Nuff said

3. Little Drummer Boy. Chicago.

Kind of a rocking/jassy version. Gets you going.

4. O Holy Night. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

When the entire choir comes in, guaranteed shivers.

5. Happy Christmas. John Lennon.

Not a traditional Christams song, but it is a good song and it is hard to argue with the with the chorus "War is over, if you want it"

6. Silent Night. Manhatten transfer.

7. Have a Merry Little Christmas. Manhatten Transfer.

Not the Do-Wop Manhatten Transfer, the mellow side of them. If you know MT you know what you will get.

8. Hark the Harold Angel Sings. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

A little harsh for the first couple of seconds coming off the mellowness of MT. But the whole choir singing with horns at the end of the song will have you pushing the play button again as soon as it is over.

AS you can tell my musical taste is far ranging.

If anyone would like a copy drop me an e-mail with your name, address and e-mail adress to Scotts@valex.com. Christmas delivery NOT guaranteed

Post any songs that you like or that I might have missed.

What about "Santa Claus is Watchin' You" by Jim Stafford? Or "Blue Christmas" by Elvis?

Excellent list of tunes, Scotts!

We have very similar musical tastes!

I absolutely love Nat King Cole and the Christmas Song. I've sung it in Karaoke before! (With much booing, hissing and throwing of tomatoes)

I've been downloading MIDI files from various places on the net. Lot's of Cool Jazzy Christmas Tunes to chose from. If you have a modern sound card, they sound great!

I updated the drivers on my card recently and Wow! What a difference!

They download really fast too...

Enjoy!

"Right Click", "Save Target As" on the MIDI files.
These four are my favorites so far!

Sleigh Ride, performed by the Andre Kostalantez Orchestra is the definative verison for me. IMO, none of the contemporary
pop or CW stuff isn't Christmas.
BTW, I have one of the digital satellite
holiday music channel piped over the estate on FM, using one of those micro power transmitters.

Bing Crobsy and Nat King Cole definitely get my vote!

So many Christmas records in my collection that it's hard to choose favorites.

"Mary's Boy Child" by Harry Belafonte was a huge 1957 Christmas hit in England and still a great recording.

A couple of less traditional Christmas songs in my collection that I love:

Christmas With The Kids by Charlie Pride
(Real up-tempo country-ish number)

An Old Christmas Card by Jim Reeves
(Lovely sentimental ballad -- Really gets to me.)

don't forget Manheim Steamroller! Their first Christmas alblum is still the first to get play time here.

The oldest boy is learning the saxaphone, so Kenny G gets airtime too.

I have never heard the Manheim Steamroller CD. But a GREAT CD is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. None of the songs are traditional Christmas song, it is a combination of classical and rock. That gets me every time.

I don't know how to imbed a link, so you'll have to cut and paste.

Sorry. I don't do it often enough to remember.

I'm kinda partial to "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and its sequel "Grampa Got Run Over by a Beer Truck" on my custom CD.
(I also love the others that have been listed)

Kenny G needs to be rolled in a mudhole, and made to live on the streets of Chicago or New Orleans with nothing but his sax and a tin cup.

Then, he would be great.

(He's just too pretty and perfect for me)
