Has anyone bought bulbs online? I need a large number (and large variety) of incandescent light bulbs, mostly decorative flame shapes and low wattage varieties, some CFLs, etc, and am finding places like TopBulb don't have a very good selection and want a dollar per unit for standard incandescent bulbs.

Any suggestions?

Might try:

http://www.lightbulbsetc.com/

Their phone number is in the upper right, and they are good people and will probably cut you a contractor discount if you ring them up with your inquiry.

Good Luck!

Have you looked into HD Supply Solutions?
They are the MRO division of Home Depot and have online ordering. I use them quite often because they usually have decent price breaks for larger quantities and a good selection of the type of bulbs you mentioned. They also ship fast and have free freight on most orders over $50.00, which helps a lot with the cost of freight these days.
You may still have to occasionally order from Grainger for some oddball or specialty bulbs, but don’t expect any discount there.

Here’s there web address: http://www.hdsupplysolutions.com/

I was looking for 15w sign bulbs (no joy locally) and ended up at bulbman.com
Service and price seemed OK to me.

Home Depot has sold HD Supply....

Have bought from: http://www.bulbconnection.com/index.cfm
Will next try: http://www.1000bulbs.com/

For "decorative" lights, try http://www.sivallighting.com/ . I bought a couple of 100' strings of C7 sockets (no plug; you can get any length you want) and twinkle bulbs for a project from them. Pretty cheap, although I was somewhat disappointed at the failure rate (5%) of their bulbs out of the box.

That’s right… I forgot about the sale late last summer. I remember now that they sent out notices to account holders about the sale and name change.
For customers like me, it was a non-event and I think HD still retains around 12% of HD Supply stock.

Thank you all for the links. I will investigate them all further. I have a chance to endorse a certain company purely on the basis of the quantity of bulbs we need and where they will be used.
