I am in the process of building a new house that sits about 600 feet off of the road. I would like to run power down the driveway (buried) for some lights and possibly an electric gate at the entrance.

Are there any special considerations to think about like voltage drop? If so, what would the recommended course of action be to achieve this goal?

Thanks in advance.

Well, this is the way I would do it.

Putting the 6 switch disconnect rule aside,
I would run 10/3 on a two pole 30a breaker to a small breaker panel with only two 15a breakers I would have a means of disconnect at both sides.

If you need more than that it will start to get very expensive.

Use direct burial AND sch-80 PVC at 18" below ground.

But thats just me.

#10 will have a 3% voltage drop at 2.5 amps, 120 volts on a 600' run.

lol!

.... what Don is politely alluding to is you need to do the math....i.e.-#of lights and wattage, gate motor's FLA for a load total, then size the branch, or fedder accordingly with VD considered..
