I have a 2-1/2 inch run as follows: A 36" radius rigid sweep into the ditch from the pole with a female pvc adapter threaded on to the end in the ditch. From there, a 10 inch length of pvc is cemented into the adapter, and a 36" radius pvc sweep is cemented to the short piece of pipe at the bell end of the sweep.

The mandrell will not pull from either side. It it hanging up right at the 10 inch pipe. I am guessing it is hanging up on the cut ends of the pipe. I will probably re do the run and eliminate the short pipe, unless anyone has a better idea?

Sorry, I don't have a better suggestion.

Something I found out the hard way (as usual) though. Before you install PVC sweeps, drop a mandrel through them to be sure that they will pass it. Better yet, drop one through before you buy or take delivery of it. It's a horrible mess to have one that's been overheated and slightly bubbled in production fail when it's under a brand new slab

Might be hung up at one of the joints by glue, or other crap that may have gotten in there. Have you tried a brush yet? I've gotten lucky with dragging a brush through a bunch of times.

electure you hit the nail on the head, except is wasn't the PVC, it was the RMC. The RMC sweep had about an 8 inch piece welded onto the end at the factory. The outside was nice and smoothed down but they forgot the INSIDE! There was a ridge of welding slag all the way around the inside about 3/8" thick, all jagged and sharp. The mandril got hung up on it so bad we couldn't retrieve it till we removed the sweep.

That's two things we got bad in two days. We also got the wrong panel, it was packed in the wrong box at the factory. When we called the supply house they started checking all of them, almost half were mis packed.

If it were not for the supply house rushing replacements to us in the field the day would have been a much bigger loss. Another good reason to trade at the supply house instead of "Big Orange The Time Waster".

Made the mistake of not looking into a 1" rigid 90, when the fishtape was being run through it stopped cold, went other direction same thing took pipe apart & found 90 was full of slag, lesson learned and glad that concrete had not been patched yet......
