I've been a maintenance electrician now for 10 years. About five years ago I switched over to the computer room and maintained the UPS, Mechanical, network......

Now I am responsible for the entire room up to and including osha, nfpa, nec.....

Any useful url's out there to guide me through this maze of requirements?

The first place to start is the web sites for the manufacturers of the equipment you have at your site. Then check out other UPS, PDU, static switch, generator, etc web sites to become familiar with terms and arrangements.

Review Article 645 in the 2002 NEC, and NFPA 75.

Joe, that is an excellent link, and bears detailed cover-to-cover study by "both camps." FIPS PUB 94 will always be a classic on perils of non-code grounding practices. It is a bit dated—for things have gotten a little better in meshing the NEC with so-called ‘technical’ / ’quiet’ / ’instrument’ / ’data-grade’ / ’isolated’ / 'flower-bed' / 'parking-lot' / 'just-plain-deadly’ grounding practices. One of the authors—Warren Lewis—will always be a hero in my book. I remember him giving a presentation at an IEEE petrochem conference about this, and he got an uncharacteristically spirited standing ovation at its conclusion.

He is a very level-headed engineer, and his message was long overdue. Believe me—he struck a deep nerve at the time. The paper served to open up a not-always-pleasant but eventually healthy dialog between tool-belt-packin’ tradesmen and computer geeks—and their seniors.
