I have a question on a residential garage. Can you wire a garage with 14/2..... I always wire it 12/2 because you use grinders and drills and such thing . What are your thoughts

The only thing in the code book deals with if the garage is attached or unattached and has electric run to it, it has to have at least one gfci protected receptacle installed. and that all ungrounded current carrying conductors have to have means to disconnect them within six movements of the hand (unattached garage) but if any more receptacles are in stalled for general use they have to be gfci protected too. here in Indiana there is some ahj that require that if the romex is below 7' it has to be installed in conduit. but other than that there is no requirement on whether their 15 or 20 amp

There are other things that deal with a building that's not attached
