We use this site all the time to check out prospective employees, you would be amazed how many sparkys are not registered or have no PL
yet are happy to try and BS their way thru an interview.

Other side of the coin Craig,
I've tried to access my own info on that site and have drawn a blank.
Considering that I have 3 Practicing Licences, it doesn't even recognise me.
Now is that value for money?.
The RSM (Radio Spectrum Management) that administrates us radio hams uses the same SMART technology for it's database.
Typical government site, all show and no Punch.

OldAppy, I think it's best to renew PLs every year whether its used or not. Its also better to get your employer to pay the 100 Pacific Pesos if you can.

If only i could find an employer that was willing to pay for my PL, i would be truly happy.
Thankfully i only have 1 practicing license to shell out for.

Mine does, which is Siemens Energy Services, previously the powerboards like United Networks used to pay the 90 or 100 Pacific Peso's.
It's part of the OHS regime that all operational staff has appropiate warrants to carry out electrical work.
On top of that we have other warrants to access Vectors substations and work on their overhead and underground equipment.
Then we have also Transpower warrants to work in their substations.
Only thing we have to pay ourself is your drivers license which is basically a tax.

Craig, if someone else did pay, then you could be TrulyOldAppy! [Linked Image]

Or even Truly'AppyOldAppy!! [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Alan, [formerly known as Gladys].

ps. By 'pacific peso' I takes it you is referring to the highly esteemed $NZ, currently worth 6 Matabele Gumbo Beads in real money.

Maybe its because i work for a tight wad, he cringes every time i mention to him he should be paying for my PL, he reckons i am overpaid as a sparky (absolutely not true).

I can only imagine the grimace if he had 3 to pay for HAHAHAHAHAHA.

My argument is he always wants me to sign COC's when he's no around. - I do if i have done the work and not any of his Appys.

Alan i am always a "truly happy appy" any day above the ground is a great day.

The "pacific peso" cames from my younger brother who lives in London and splashes his cash around whenever he comes home for a visit, grates as you can imagine. :0
BTW i had no idea our dollar was down so low against the "Matabele Gumbo Bead"

Cheers CW

OldAppy, your boss sounds like a typical tight a*se business owner. Next time he whines about renewing your PL, you should remind him of all the jobs you've signed off in the last 12 months.

Also OldAppy, your Bro is entitled to splash the Sterling round when he's back here. It's the only compensation they get for spending most of the year in a cold, crowded, sunless rat-race like London.

Rodalco, I think we should start working on getting our employers to pay for driving licenses too !

OK Craig,
I've got 3 Practicing Licences because I was an Electrician and a Line Mechanic before I found ECN.
I have since sat and passed my Inspectors Licence.
No big deal, with going back to Electricity Ashburton, I will have my Practicing licences paid for.
I just want to get out on the tools and not be cooped up in a noisy factory.
Ever had your lunch in a nice quiet part of the district?.
I've missed that, I hope to get that back again. [Linked Image]
