seems like every time posters here type book, travel, insurance, or similar items of commerce it creates it's own link!

what is this? some sort of UBB enhanced pop up?

a corporate inflitration via the minons of Bill Gates?

or just a good 'ol commie plot?

Sounds like you have some sort of "suggest links" feature turned on somewhere--or you have "spyware."

What web browser are you using, and if it's Internet Explorer, did you install any toolbars recently?

oh i see... it's only ME !

yes ThinkGood, Internet Explorer, the only change is an upgrade to a Dell last summer

would this be something addressed under 'advanced' in internet options?

I don't think it's in those settings. I recall when XP first came out, M$ had wanted to make such a feature standard, but didn't, due to complaints.

Anybody else have an idea where this might be?

P. S. To see what "extras" are installed in your IE browser, check:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings -> View Objects

That might show something lurking.

I had lots of probs like yours... my fix was Spybot - Search & Destroy.

But PLEASE make sure you read and understand ALL the instructions for this software. I am not a puter tech'y or geek so I'm sure you'll do ok provided you understand how to use it properly.

I'm also sure others here prob use it and may pipe in regarding it.

The link to it at downloads.com: SPYBOT

Good Luck, I'm sure this will do the trick.

It sure does sound like some type of Keyword Scripting!
Don't have that problem on my end - all Browsers are Netscape, but have viewed the Forums with IE many times (IE used for uploads).

Some crazy Spamming technique at work here!

As normal, for any user's message to include "Intentional" Hyperlinks, that user will need to enclose within URL Tags.

Steve (Sparky);
Next time you view a threaded reply which someone's message has been tweeked this way, read it in an "Edit Message Window" (the reply message with the fraudulent link is active, click on the "Edit" Icon).
See if the term/word has straight HTML tags, or the more commonly used UBB tags.
Also see if there's any "Hosting" identification which is common to other fraudulent links.

If you see straight HTML tags, this would be done outside of the Forum - unless that user prefers HTML code vs the common UBB code. Might be worth asking that user.
If you find a common host site, then we have a WEENIER!!! (Winner).

Maybe some form of deliberate ASCII Bomb would be in order for such a site [Linked Image]

At least, a complaint may be issued.

BTW, Steve (Sparky);

I am going to include those terms you listed, into a few sentences, but I will not apply
any intentional tagging to any terms - nor use any Smilees.
Along with those terms, I'll add some popular Spambot terms to additional sentences.

If you find any funny stuff, read this message in that good old "You Know What"
window, looking for "You Know What".
Send a message to me via email with your findings - and possibly a copy of your view
of that "You Know What" stuff!
If needed, send a screen shot using alt plus printscreen.

And now, here's the featured program!

I have always enjoyed Traveling! Once an idea of travel comes up, I will goto the Library and check out as many Books as possible.

Sometimes I find in a good book, more exciting things to get into.
Insurance comes to mind here.

There's something magical about Travel, Travel Agencies, Books and Insurance.

Of course, these things wouldn't be available, if not for the advent of Porn.
Here is where Viagra is of major importance, yet goes unnoticed because of Real Estate and its finicky views of getting an On-Line Degree from an Accredited College.

Likewise is the dilemma facing a small Penis, or the extremely problematic growth of on line Pharmacies.

Once in awhile, I would like to win, or get, some of the better rates, as opposed to
someone who wants to date you.
Rates are very important to the person with many Credit Cards, and with Vicoden.

Without some of the most Attractive Singles in your area, there is a real health concern.

Even when a Homeowner looks for a better Auto Loan, there may be problems trying to find a nice looking plush toy, and aquire some large stock of Naked Women exposing it all.

After firing your boss, it's time to create your own business out of Ostrich feathers.
Try telling me that no one will be buying extra printer supplies now!

Thank you for listening.

One problem is that the default settings on IE leave the system too open.

I set the main defaults ("Internet" zone) to disable just about everything -- no cookies, ActiveX, etc. allowed -- then just add sites I use to the "Trusted sites" zone where cookies, Java etc. are enabled.

It still won't catch everything, but it's better than the wide-open Microsoft defaults.
