Greetings All,
My 18 month old laptop is on the fritz. The screen intermitently dances and then goes haywire. I assume it is the LCD inverter board but I'm not 100% sure. If I send it in for repairs the cost would come close to buying a new one. I can't afford that right now. Is there a source where I can buy an inverter? It might be worth the chance.

Blessings.

The problem with laptops is they have very few "off the shelf" parts in them. Even within the same family from the same company parts are not universally compatible.
Easter egging can be a very expensive gamble. I would try to prove what part is bad before you start shopping and even then it may not be worth the cost of the part.

Mark,
Are you willing to get your hands dirty to save a bit of cash?.
I reckon that what you have is an intermittent connection on one of the connector strips (as in wires).
It sounds like it is out of warranty, so what do you have to lose?.
Get your multimeter and test each of the wires for continuity while shaking the laptop.
My guess would be either a bad wire link between the bottom part of the laptop and the screen or a "dry-joint" on one of the PCB's.

Thanks Trumpy, That's definetly worth a try. As of now I am considering selling it for parts. The cable I can find on Ebay.

Blessings,
Mark
