Apparently he didn't have the correct length of liquid-tight either, also one part looks alot newer then the other. what this looks like to me is that the shorter piece of flex, the one that goes to that ell fed some original piece of equiptment directly, then that piece was removed and that swamp cooler was put in, and required a longer length of flex, so they put in a new piece using that horrible looking thing in the middle. This install could be improved drastically merely by putting that ell on the swamp cooler, and attaching that TA that's currently on the cooler to the other end of that coupling... it's so counter-intuitive it's like someone actually had to put work into making this look uglier then need be.

Wirenuts wouldn't fit...you have to use butt splices.

It amazes me how much work someone will go through to do something wrong. It wouldn't have been that hard to install a new peice of flex. [Linked Image]
