The enclosed photo shows a #12 copper underground feeder wire connected
directly to the load side of the CT cabinet. The electrician must have figured the wire itself would perform well enough as a fuse, and as you can see it eventually did.

Turns out the wire went to a pole light with an integral photocell some 100 yards away at a Church.
