Hello--I am new to the forum and have a question.
I was in a discussion on installing floor mounted receptacles in a home. I have never run across this myself but thought it was against code in Ontario.
Does anyone know for sure and where I'd come across the rule in a Codebook? Thanks.
Here is a link showing a box in question:

Hermit,

First welcome to the forum. I cant tell you where to find it in your code( i am from US), but I can tell you that there was a recall on those floor boxes in the US because the hot and neutural wires were put on the wrong side of the receptacle. Be sure to check polarity before, if, you install any of them

While not sure about the Ontario Code, the CEC allows them as long as they are installed in an approved box designed to protect the receptacle from water and dust penetration.

The CEC rule is 26-700(5).

Here in Ontario, we install dozens of floor plugs in the custom homes we do. We use the Pass and Seymour kits. Click on their website and type "floor box" on their search engine.

See 26-700(5) It states that boxes in floors must be floor boxes.
