Tanning bed

A customer of mine bought a used Lohmann tanning bed.
The problem is that he doesn't have a manual for this bed, and the previous owner had her father do the original wiring, so
I don't know if the unit requires a GFI protection. The cord end were cut off and installed in a juntion box.
This unit is now sitting in
the basement on the concrete floor.
To play it safe, I'm going to put a GFI breaker on this unit, will the ballast create problems for the GFI??

Name plate rating is 1580 watts for each half of the bed and a voltage rating of 240.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

If the GFCI protection you install trips, then the bed is a hazard, and you may have saved a life. A GFCI is a good idea.

I installed the outlet for a tanning bed about 6 months ago & the manufacturer specified that the voltage be in a very narrow range. I special ordered a transformer from them to get it within range.
