Are any of you allowed to attach the flex feeding a layin fixture to the ceiling support wire? I know the code does not allow conduit or cable assemblies to be supported by the wires. I feel that the actual weight of the whip or flex is supported by the box and fixture. I just like to keep the flex off of the grid.

No, we can't support wiring from the ceiling support wires in a drop ceiling. We install additional drop wires to support our cabling, and attach the "bottom" end to the grid with the approved "Caddy" clips, per NEC.
