Manual 2 pole motor starter like Square D Class 2510 (switch type, not magnetic type)as the disconnect for an air conditioning unit. OK?
Is "if it looks like a switch and acts like a switch, it's a switch" true?

Does it have a means of locking the switch in the open position?

If the AC unit has a hermetic compressor, does the motor starter meet the disconnect ampere rating requirements of 440.12?
Is it possibly marked as "suitable as motor disconnect"?
