I lurk on a bunch of message boards, but this one kind of blew my mind. From the HVAC-Talk board, on the wall of shame, this thread shows pics of a panel where a CB would not shut off, so the Hvac guy pulled the breaker.

QUOTE "The breaker would not turn off so I said well then I will just pull it from the panel and you see what happened."

If I am seeing this right, it appears that he pulled the CB under load, and it came apart on him. If this is true, I would think he is lucky to still be around to tell the tale.

Oh yeah, and I think it is a bit odd that I am seeing white wires attatched to breakers. Those are single pole CB's right?

Hey Bob,

Some of the worst wiring practices I have seen has come from "Tin Benders". Saw one the other day, couldn't find the breaker for an outdoor condensing unit until I pulled the panel cover off and found two # 10s stuck up under the load side of the main.

You know the saying "The trouble with electricity is that it almost always works!"

That's (in slightly different words) my signature at the OHW board ( www.oldhouseweb.com )... they occasionally have nice hacks there too.
