A 11kw oven is rated at 220 v / 208. On its nameplate it has 3.5A. What is the 3.5 Amps? Isn't the amps 11000/220 = 50 amps.

please clarify!

An 11 KW oven connected at 240v 1 PH would draw 45.83A, at 208v 1PH it would draw 52.9 and at 208v 3PH, 30.56. I don't know what the 3.5A could mean unless it's the rating of a single element in a multi- element oven.

yes it is wired for both 240 volts and 208 volts

the reason why dual rated because on single phase system it is normally 120/240 volts and on three phase wye system is 120/208 volt.

the 208 volt is common with large apt or home near hevey commercal system which it allready have 208 volt there.

keep in your mind the wattage do reduce some how on 208 volt system genrally about 20 to 25% less wattage than straght 120/240 volt single phase system

Merci , Marc
