can any tell me what the CODE 422-31(b) is
I have a steam generator for a residential bath steam room and the inspector failed me
( he left the "RED" NOT APPROVED sticker with my house keeper so I could not ask him what was wrong.

Jacob,

The code article you mentioned (422-31) is pertaining to disconnection of permanently connected appliances.

(b) Appliances rated over 300 volt-Amperes or 1/8 Horsepower - Basically says that a disconnect switch must be located "within sight" of the Equipment or must capable of being locked in the open position (off)

It sounds like you need a switch in some location.
