Just read a post by Sandsnow (Head electrical inspector for Irvine) that the journman's certification is likely to be postponed again (from his sources).
http://www.mikeholt.com/codeforum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=000170;p=2

Anyone else hearing anything about this?
They either need to start enforcing this damn thing or just give up on it.

Sucks that they already have my 175 bucks. Least I have another form of ID :P

Yup, one more time, Dave.
Another 6 months. It will become effective Jan 1, 2006.
The Spanish monolingual test deadline has not been extended, and it will be effective at the same time.

This was decided at the CAC's quarterly meeting, April 28 & 29

The CAC actually could extend this another whole year, until Jan 1, 2007, if they feel the "need". It's written right into the law. [Linked Image]

Someone should start looking into this program.
$4.3 million raised in fees from hard working electricians ($175 * 25,000) + probably millions in salaries for the people in charge of this program. What have the people of California gotten? A webpage with a pdf of ~10% of the electricians in California and a trivial test that was almost ripped directly from the union exam.

Just shows how effective government can be :->

Yeah,
This is beginning to sound like the never-ending story. [Linked Image]
I'm not actually sure when Electure first put a thread up in this Area about the exam, but it sure wasn't yesterday.
I'm with Dave(dmattox) on this one:

Thanks for the promotion, but I'm not the head electrical inspector for Irvine or any other city nor will I ever be or want to be.

I still think the program is a good idea especially the continuing education, just promulgated by nincompoops. Here's from roget's thesarus:

nincompoop
noun: One deficient in judgment and good sense: ass, fool, idiot, imbecile, jackass, mooncalf, moron, ninny, nitwit, simple, simpleton, softhead, tomfool. Informal : dope, gander, goose. Slang : cretin, ding-dong, dip, goof, jerk, nerd, schmo, schmuck, turkey. See ABILITY.

Sandsnow, several people have refered to you as the head electrical inspector. Guess we all just think you deserve the promotion [Linked Image]
