Urinating worker loses piddling injury claim

December 23 2003 at 11:54AM
Quickwire

Hong Kong - A construction worker who was shocked while urinating on a
power transformer had his injury claim thrown out of court in Guangdong
province, north of Hong Kong, local media reported on Tuesday.

The man, only identified as Hu, had sought compensation for the more than
7000 yuan (about R6 000) he spent on medical treatment after being seriously
injured in the incident, a media report said.

But the Foshan Intermediate People's Court rejected Hu's claim against his
employer, saying he should have realised the consequences of urinating on
the transformer, the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily reported.

You realize that if an american worker had intentionally urinated on a live transformer and hurt himself, the worker would have won millions from the employer, and OSHA would have fined the employer heavily.

Maybe China isn't so bad after all.

Don't forget the additional suits against the transformer manufacturer for not "urine-proofing" the transformer, the POCO for providing the electricity, and the water company for supplying the liquid that made the plaintiff have to pee so bad! [Linked Image]

The last two replies make me feel better that I'm not the only one who feels this way!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this modern trend deplorable.

Some of the warnings on products these days make me wonder about the intelligence of the intended buyers. "Warning: Contents may be hot after heating" has got to be one of the most stupid warnings I've ever seen!

I once knew a guy that peed on an electric barb wire fence, which was well marked with
All just thought he wasn't as smart as the fence.
I'd sure feel stupid even admitting this, much less bringing a suit against someone else, but then, if you're dumb enough to do it in the first place, well...

my dad says "Some people can learn from the mistakes of others; and some people have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."
