I especially like the idea of the funnel, since I work by myself most of the time. The masking tape probably would work, but I probably would have a screw drive or punch more handy than the masking tape [Linked Image]

Yes. I like the funnel also, however make sure to first de-burr the ends of the pipe, so you don't have sharp edges when the ends get joined with a connector.

The funnel seems to be an OK idea, but if you're just concerned about damaging the wire why not just put a connector on the conduit?
