Redsy,

I didn't mean to give the impression that I thought it was untrue. I was just commenting on some of the details. Infortunately the details that the public hears in situations like this do not help them better understand the Hazards of Electricity or how this could have been prevented.

I agree that your scenario, about the skinned cable could have been the cause. I was just commenting on the report's claim that it was tied to the unit coming on.

I wish that it was required that someone experienced with the Trade examine the situation and include a likely cause in the report. The more the public knows about causes of something like this the more value they should see in a code-compliant installation by a qualified person. I'd be willing to bet that something was wrong here.

Let me second Bills statement. Nor was I questioning the voracity of the statement or down playing anything that was said.
I just question the accuracy of the report in reporting the accident. That it happened is tragic, how it happened is what I was questioning. Being an Electrical Contractor the first thing I think of is liability, and wihtout an investigation, it just seems plausible that the contractor will be blamed, and if something was neglected during installation should be. But as Paulik says about trusting the press to mess up the technical details that too is also very possible.
