Hi,
Is there a requirement to have an outlet at a mop sink in a basement of a house?

Is there a requirement for having outlets along counters that are not in a kitchen but a rec room or other area of a house?

Thanks for any replies.

No; but if it is an "unfinished" basement there MUST be 1-GFI recept.

A counter in a rec room poses an interesting point. Not knowing the layout or dimensions of the room & counter doesn't help. The basic 6-12 spacing, and >24" have to be complied with; if the 'counter' fits between the required wall recept, then I will say "NO, you do not need any more by code.

Remember, the NEC is not a design manual, only the minimum requirements for your question.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply...this is a minimum install by design..

only what is required..

there is a 2 foot by four foot counter top for a microwave and whatever else.

i was not for sure if an outlet was required at any counter or not.

this is is finished basement.

I put one dedicated for the mic and one in the center of the 4 foot section.

i can add another if needed.

thanks for the reply

-regards
