Can you mount a porch light on a WP box. Or are there decent looking fixtures designed to mount on WP boxes.
I've been asked to feed an outdoor receptacle for holiday lights from a switched entrance light. The light is mounted on a standard single gang sw. box in brick. The simplest solution seems to be to install a WP box over the old box and drop down with PVC to the new WP receptacle box. But I don't think the fixture will sit properly on a WP box.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Redsy,

Is the switch behind the Fixture?
If it is, why not come off the switch and snake down inside the wall. Poke through a mortar joint with a nipple to a surface mounted WP box.

Bill,

No go. The switch is on a common wall (twin duplex) on the other side of the door. There is no room between the 2 doors to easily come through & mount a box.

I've had success with the following Progress brand Luminaires:

P5818-30 WHITE POLYPROYLENE WALL LANTERN $8.00

P5818-31 BLACK POLYPROYLENE WALL LANTERN $8.00

Which mate up beautifully with the following WP box:

Thomas and Betts TR114WH Box Round Weather Proof White W/5-1/2 KO $4.69

I haven't confirmed any other good fits, but it seems to be a standardized thing somewhat...
