Hi,
Is a GFI required for a SWITCH AND A LIGHT installed outdoors? NO RECEPTACLE on the circuit.

210.8 doesn't seem to address it.

thanks for any replies.

Hi,
I forgot to mention a few details...the light is a 300 Watt ENCLOSED HALOGEN..it is located ABOVE a HOT TUB/SPA..

The disitance is less than 7'-6" from the water level at its highest point. the light is over 5' from the inside wall.

the light is enclosed with a glass lens..

i will go ahead and feed this with a GF breaker.
just wanted to clear up the article...680.43(B)(1)(b); (c) & 680.43(B)(c)(1); 2

Sorry you confused me with the 210 reference. I thought about 680 but I assumed you would have mentioned the spa or pool ;-)

Not quite on the subject, but I guess they aren't opting for the romantic lighting for this spa. 300 watts of halogen seems a bit high.

Dave,
The floodlight does not shine on the tub. The light was installed to light up the diving area of a underground pool.

The light also has a switch.
