Home owner doesn't want outside disconnect
for 12,000 watt natural gas generator
on the side of his house.
I can't find it in the code book that states
it is required for a backup generator.
Air conditioners require a service disconnect
ect.. but help me with generator code please.
Thanks Rob

445.18 Disconnecting Means Required for Generators.Generators shall be equipped with a disconnect by means of which the generator and all protective devices and control apparatus are able to be disconnected entirely from the circuits supplied by the generator except where:
(1) The driving means for the generator can be readily shut down; and
(2) The generator is not arranged to operate in parallel with another generator or other source of voltage

The 445.18 disconnect is usually mounted on the generator. I would think the 225.31 & 225.32 is the applicable section at the house.
