I vaguely remember a method i was taught by my foreman on 3phase condutor numbering.

I think you took a number, divide it by three then the remainder....???

Can anybody refresh my memory?

Edward

Thanks
Edward

Take a number and divide it by six, the remainder (or fraction) is your phase. Example: circuit number 27.

27/6= 4 with 3 remaining. Three is phase "B"

If you have a remainder of 1 or 2, it is "A"
If you have a remainder of 3 or 4, it is "B"
If you have no remainder, or a remainder of 5, it is phase "C".

We always went 1,3,5, etc or 2,4,6, etc on our first three fingers. The finger ended on was the phase of the wire. Higher math was not required [Linked Image]
