The NEC does not permit the receptacles in a kitchen, bathroom, or wet bar to be installed Face Up. Are there any products available that will allow a recessed receptacle to be installed that would be flush with the counter when not in use?

I know it sounds crazy, but what about a floor box?

there was a 'tip out' sort of gizmo posted here once, looked very much a high end deal, i just can't find it. [Linked Image]

the only problem is, kitchen designers won't give most electricians the time of day, i have been party to many a window/counter design here that simply can't meet 210-52.

i'm tired of pissin' in the wind to peole who could care less....

Does anyone know if these pop-up style receptacles can be approved as suitable for kitchen counters?

Welcome to the forum.
Based on the pic only, I cannot give you a firm answer.

IF the item is UL listed/labeled then it should be acceptable in a kitchen. It appears to be mounted in a desk, as I see a phone.

Practically, it may be a tough 'sell', to cut-in to the countertop without a wide choice of decorator trims. Also, drawers would require modifications (depth) to accomodate this item.

I would like more info on this item if possible.

With my AHJ hat on, if an EC could show me a valid UL listing/label, I would accept this device.
