I run a one man shop, trying to keep it simple but with liability ins, city tax licensing, contractors license renewals, etc., there are still a lot of cost. How many other one man shops out there.

I'm a one man shop too. You're right, sometimes it seems there aren't enough hours in the day.

I've been in business for 24 years, most of them as a one man operation. When a mistake is made, I know exactly whose butt to chew.

Another one man shop here! Just starting out though I though I would like to have a couple guys work for me but the farther along I get the more I think I would like to work by myself.

Any opinions on this? How well has it worked for you, things you would do different.

Thanks, Wirewiz

One man shop that teams up with another one man shop from time to time...

(The Joe Musser/ Musser Electric I talk about)

We did a temp service with two sub panels and six 20A GFCI WP (while in use) Recepts for a horse barn at the Greenbrier Resort...

I've finally got my foot in the door of a $30 per hour gig!

(Can't beleive I made $240 today!)

Just me, so far. I have gotten busier and my wife wants me to hire someone. I don't like the thought of someone counting on me to feed their family, so I am holding out.

It seems like the good help is working already and what is available is not worht hiring.

66, My hourly rate is $48 in MD, and was thinking of raising it to about $56. Although I have never worked at the Greenbrier so I guess you are still one up. Heck, I can't afford to go there for a weeekend, not that I have time. lol

Just myself and I'm going to keep it that way.

As of April 1st, my hourly rate goes up to $45.00. If it's a customer from ****, it goes to $450.00. LOL

Just remember this, you all had to work for someone to get those hours...now give the chance to someone else...!

I am trying to get an apprenticeship in the Cape Cod, MA area and have been trying for quite a while now...no luck.

I have been studying like a mad man and go to job sites just to see how things are done in the "Real World" and not in the books...

Take a chance on somebody if you are overworked, you never know what you may find..
