As far as what Harold said about running in the curb, this doesn’t always work out so well. I worked on Lego Land in Carlsbad and we had to do a lot of this. It has a lot of walkways bordered by 6” wide by 6” high concrete curbs. About every 100’ the curb pops out to 8” to accommodate the bollard lights. We installed all the circuiting for the bollards in the bottom of the curbs. The problem is keeping up with the carpenters forming the curbs. They were not required to get inspections so they would come in with about 25 men fine grading, slamming in stakes and setting forms all with concrete trucks already on the road! We had to get our pipe in after they graded and before they poured and get inspection. There were thousands of feet involved so the hassle saved a lot of money in digging but what a nightmare! Since then I have stayed away from the temptation to save some excavating by running in site curbs.
