Started right out of high school working in manufacturing plant, learned not only electrical, but a fair amount in the process piping & systems, HVAC, concrete & carpentry, sheet metal fabrication, & machinist/millwright areas. Passed the test for electrical contractor at the age of 20, the Chicago Supervising Electrician Test @21. With other paartner, ran union firm till 1990. Worked for small number of other contractors; outdoor, sign, gas station & tennant build-out. Since 1994, worked at O'Hare Airport. Took NCPCCI calsses for electrical inspector -general, plus, plan review and 1&2 family dwellings. Planning on taking certification test shortly.
Mainly single family residentail going on now, about 4 to 5 inspections a night, as a part-time position. No full time electrical inspectors in my village.
