Well I`m working at a Industrial site seems the autitors had some concerns with the paint shop Code articals.well I need help. The paint building has 2 rooms one spray area and a paint storage area thet are interconected by a wooden slide door and inside the storage area the panel is plain indoor type and floresant lights plain indoor type all rec are open.Could some of you lead me in right direction with some code references maybe. They do keep the door shut when spraying but fumes can pass in there.I feel like all explosion proof would be the thing but not really up on the articals.I work here to as Electrical Maint. With your help maybe we be safe.

If the paint room is Class1 Div.1, the room immediately adjacent is usually Class 1 Div. 2. See 500.5(B)(2).
Classifying an area is usually an engineering responsiblity.

Article 516 covers paint booths. Specifically check 516-2. Check 516-3 (c) for the lighting question. It does not sound to me as if you are in complicance, but the code should serve as a fair guide.

George,

Did you mean 516.3 (D)?
I'm guessing AMP_TRAP has a Div. 2 location on his hands.
