What affiliation are you with Steve? I came up through the NJATC. I never had to keep track of my own hours, there was never a question about what I had worked, and my employers were always cordial when it came to dealing with the NJATC. We had to get 8,000 man hours in too, BTW.

The IRS will make him cough up the hours: Demand an audit of his 941 forms.

He IS an electrical contractor, or some such.

He MUST file an accurate 941 with the IRS else it's a felony.

The 941 records are absolute proof of time served with this firm -- in the capacity -- put a fork in him ( he's done).

Your W-2s are virtually the same as evidence.

You can proclaim as a witness your testimony and have it recorded. Such as document is an AFFIDAVIT.

This affidavit is confirmed by the FEDERAL IRS records that you'll submit, to witt, I worked so many hours ... in this capacity ... and the jerk refuses to acknowledge this history as he is of a hostile mood... here are his prior legal declarations....

yada...yada...

Here in MA it is the person employing the apprentice who is legally responsible for tracking the hours.

There is a standard form the employer must fill out.

Sending your own log or W2s to the board with your test application will result in the application being sent back or disregarded.

The answer for Steve is easy....call the board of licensing they will force the EC to produce the records, if the EC refuses the board can and has taken actions such as license suspension or even revocation.

If the EC denies he ever employed the apprentice than just a few pay stubs will prove that to be false.

Here in NC you can use your W-2 forms. It takes longer for them to process your application, but they will do it based on tax records.

I can relate, I have run jobs for a few companies with the promise of my Masters letter. After a year of making them $$ I get laid off My phone calls about my letter are unanswered
