3 split bolts, little cambric, little rubber tape, little "Super 88", and all is good [Linked Image]

I've used polaris taps (or insultaps) before.. I just add the cost onto the customers bill and leave em.. The poco usually ends up leaving them vs. pulling the ladder out. [Linked Image]

Question, I use split bolts (bugs,Kearney, whichever you prefer) or set screw barrel splices and tape. Often the POCO does not replace the splice ever. Do you think if some one used a romex conn. that the replacement rate would be higher? Just curious. Rod

Guess it depends on the utility co. Here in NJ a 'cut-in-card' is sent to the POCO upon inspection, and they show up (at their will) to make perm conn, replace drop (if req) and install meter/new meter & seal meter cab.

Now that's overkill!
I once saw a temp service for an Austrian fair... they tied a 1x2 to the metal restroom trailer using conduit wire, ran two screws into the end, laid the quadruplex cable between the two screws that stuck up like a fork. They then erected their work by climbing up a ladder one of the helpers was holding in mid air...
