Randy, I agree with Fred, we are being quoted less than $12.00 pft for 600kcmil.

I would go back and ask them to check their prices.

Cable prices have been on the up this side of the Atlantic too. In fact my local trade warehouse stopped printing prices in the main catalog (issued every 3 months) a year or more ago as the prices were changing too rapidly. They just insert flyer sheets now for cable prices.

I don;t have the current trade sheet to hand, but here's a price from one of the mail-order places (a little more expensive):

100-meter reel of 2.5 T&E (slightly larger than #14 AWG), £38.95, excluding tax.

That would work out to about $220 per 1000 ft. at the current exchange rate.

Edited for typo on wire size. [Linked Image]

our suppliers are only holding their quotes to the end of the work day for the same reason. [Linked Image]

On a positive note, we have actually seen a small (real small) decrease in price in the last couple of weeks.

Roger,

They've got "POA" on all cable across the board here at the moment. It's not just "T&E", but also on reels of appliance cords (equiv. to SO, SJT etc.), on TV coax, and on telephone cable and CAT3/5.

This should geet your shorts in a knot... right now, Molybdenum which is a by-product of the copper refining here is is worth so much on the market that the net cost on producing the copper itself is near zero.
