All I can really say is, Learn, Learn, Learn.
You'd be amazed what you can pick up in a short time.
But, you have to able to listen and listen good, not listening in some Industrial places could cost you your life or a limb or two.
If you do get into this sort of work ask what the real hazards are, doing this helped me let it be known to the Boss and the staff that I was concerned about my own safety and those working with me.
Working around spinning cutters and Jaws of life-like stuff in a meat plant, mean you have to be very careful where you put your hands.
Every industry has it's own hazards.
