Man, I love old electrical equipment! For a while, I had an old DPDT 400A knife switch that came from an old industrial plant that was being remodeled into new office space. Single wooden handle, a wooden tie bar, and the "knives" were 3/8" thick copper, about 12" apart and 16" long to the pivot. Looked just like it came from Doc Frankenstein's lab.
I've been collecting old inspection stickers for a while as well. My wife thinks I'm nuts for pack-ratting these things [Linked Image]

I thought only my family was nuts! [Linked Image] My brother-in-law recently described a couple of things he inherited when his dad passed away. He got a huge collection of microphones (his dad was a homegrown 'sound engineer' & took any and every opportunity to be involved in broadcasting or public address set-up). He also got a couple of wooden boxes which contained full and complete sets of vacuum tubes in just about every size and shape known. That alone must be worth a lot!

Bug:
Take a look at some of the tubes he has, then look at eBay. Depending on some of the tube types (6L6'es, 6550's etc.) and their physical condition, some of them can bring a very good price. Some of the newer tubes being manufactured today can go for $40.00 or more per pair.

I'm glad to find out that there are others out there that like to collect similar old stuff. I am definitely a packrat of the highest (or is it lowest) order.

I dont feel so bad now. My family calls it junk, but I think it interesting. I collect a lot of high voltage equipment and electrical "mistakes". I have stuff that Joe has pictures of in his code violation forum. I think my favorite part of the collection are the HV load breaks from about 1940. They still have the orginal fuse in them. All electricians must have a fetish for this type of stuff!!!

Ok, speaking of fetishes, anyone besides me have a collection of burned out wire strippers, meters, hacksaw blades and kliens?
