I know I'm probably opening myself to all kinds of abuse here, but what does it mean when somebody posts and just says "Bump"?

All that means is they (or I) want that particular thread to go back (bumped) to the front of the line so more people will comment on it.

Not opening yourself to abuse, I wondered that at first, then I noticed, the way ECN forums are set up, active topics will bounce to the top of the list. The "bump" post simply kicks it back to the top so people who may have missed the thread (in a period of heavy posting for example) get a chance to read it

Bumping a topic is a way of getting an older thread that is forgotten about back to the top of the list, so people will see it again. For example, the Friday night chat thread gets bumped just about every Friday

Thanks , I wondered about the "bump" thingy too and wasn't sure what to do with it.
I see you are never to old to learn something.
