Just put a note in your bid or bill that material and/or equipment supplied by others is not warrented at all. I have found that this slows down the home owner's hurry to go buy the cheep junk. It also allows me to bill for the call back. Just wish I could stop general contractors and large property owners the same way.

I often find that the customer/contractor supplied fittings are not only sometimes of poor quality but that they've also paid way over the odds for them.

Case in point: A twin (duplex) outlet, very cheap & nasty construction that a customer bought at the local DIY store for £6 (about $9). I buy better quality units for just £2.
